Description

The Surry Village School , built in 1872, was plagued with maintenance problems. One of those problems was the "chemical toilet" kept freezing up. A decision was made to build a new school. The old Surry Village School was finally closed in the spring of 1952 and Surry Elementary School was built. A dedication was held on August 10, 1952.
