Description
The Goldthwaite house was the oldest house in Biddeford and burnt down in 1963. It was built by Captain Jordan as a garrison in 1717 (possibly earlier) as protection during the Indian wars. Captain Jordan was taken prisoner by the Indians when he was a boy and learned their language. He was a noted marksman. His father was killed by the Indians.
Though built by Captain Jordan, the house is named for Tristram Goldthwaite.
