Description
Preliminary work for bridging the narrow channel between Lubec and Campobello Island, New Brunswick, is shown in this photograph. The steel post left of the utility pole bears signs for Water and Washington Streets, the latter hanging vertically. At the base is a fire hydrant and a cast iron U.S. Mail box. An identical mail box is in the Lubec Historical Society collection as of 2011; it may be this actual casting. The women and children atop the fill are not identified.
