Description
The Eastern Steamship Company operated three large vessels from Boston to Portland, Eastport, and Lubec in the early decades of the 20th century. The Governor Dingley, presumably named after Nelson Dingley who served as Maine’s Governor one term from 1874-76, was a screw-driven steel-hulled vessel built in Chester, Pennsylvania.
