The Bennets, Lubec, ca. 1934

Contributed by Lubec Historical Society

Description

Dr. Eben Homer Bennet (1848-1944) seated, Dr. DaCosta Bennet (1885-1975) standing, his two sons left to right Frank Homer (1921-1991), and Eben Thorpe Bennet (1926-2007).

Commenting on these photos, fourth-generation physician Dr. Meredith Bennet wrote in September, 2011, “As you can see, with such a medical family, I don’t remember giving much thought to anything but medicine as a career. I admired my father, his love and dedication to his practice, and wanted that for myself. Every summer growing up, we would go to Lubec and hear stories of our grandfather, and his father, going by ferry to Campobello to treat patients- it seemed like a wonderful way of life. Everyone knew the Drs. Bennet and we all grew up being very proud to be a Bennet.”
