Abner Small letter to mother and sister, 1865

Description

Abner Small, a member of the 16th Maine volunteers, was captured and kept in prison in Danville, Virginia.

He wrote to his mother, Mary, and sister, Emma, in Mount Vernon from the Danville, Virginia, Prison No. 3 about waiting to be exchanged for a Confederate prisoner of war, ensuring his release.
