Carpenter's shop employees, Portland Company, August 1887

Description

The Portland Company created steel for locomotives, lighthouses, ships and factories. These employees worked in the carpentry shop. The Portland Company is still in operation at 58 Fore Street in Portland, Maine. Incorporated in 1846, it built steam engines for locomotives, fire engines and ships.
