Description

This image of Jacob B. Loring was taken at Loring's Rooms in Maine.

Loring, of Thomaston, was 28 when he enlisted as a sergeant in Co. B, 1st Maine Cavalry in October 1861. He was promoted to 1st Sergeant in 1862 and to captain on July 11, 1863.

He re-enlisted on December 29, 1863. He mustered out on August 1, 1865 in Petersburg, Virginia.
