Hallowell Granite Works, ca. 1900

Description

The Hallowell Granite Works supplied granite for buildings as far away as New York and Texas. It employed more than 250 people in the quarries.

The first few years of the 20th century were the company's busiest; business started to slack off about 1908, partly because more buildings were built with concrete.
