Israel bond coupon, ca. 1950

Contributed by Congregation Shaarey Tphiloh

Description

Shaarey Tphiloh, an Orthodox Jewish congregation in Portland that was founded in 1904, like most other Jewish congregations, allied itself with world Jewry and the State of Israel.

Supporting Israel by buying Israel bonds was a way for the Jewish community to have pride in Jewish life and to support the fledgling State of Israel.

Shaarey Tphiloh held an annual Israel Bond event.

One side of the dividend coupon is in English and the other side in Hebrew.
