Description

This image was taken from the book, 'Maine Forts' by Henry E. Dunnack (1924). The caption reads, 'This is all that remains of the old fortification. It is now the property of the D.A.R. chapter of Winslow.'

In 1924, the Daughters of the American Revolution took it upon themselves to preserve the Fort Halifax Blockhouse in Winslow, Maine. They carried out this important endeavor for future generations until 1966.
