Description

This is an image of one of the blockhouses at Fort Halifax in Winslow.

After Fort Halifax was no longer manned, the surrounding community used it for a number of domestic operations. Eventually all the materials of the fort, with the exception of the surviving blockhouse, were taken down to build many public and private structures.

Today, a reconstructed blockhouse is the only remaining structure.
