George Frederick Morse, a Portland artist and arts supporter, portrayed the Great Fire of Portland as viewed from Commercial Street near the Head of Richardson's Wharf.
Morse (1824-1926) did four paintings of the Great Fire.
He was a draftsman and later superintendent of the Portland Company.
