Barque "Halcyon" of Bath, 1871

Description

The John Larrabee shipyard in Bath built the Halcyon in 1842. It carried cargo across the Atlantic.

She was 797 tons and 157 ft. long. Below the painting are the words, "Barque Halcyon of Bath, Maine. A.E. Work, Master, June 1871." It is signed "Geo. Luzre Venice."

In 1871 Abel E. Work, a Bath native, was master of the Halcyon.
