Description

The original hand-made sardine can was superceded by machine-made tin-plated steel cans in the late 19th century. Such a can plant in North Lubec was replaced by the American Can Company plant on Johnson Street in 1907. This plant expanded and continued in operation until 1972. The date on the rear of this print indicates that it was taken in early 1993.
