Volume 1 No. 1 of this periodical “was started for the purpose of letting the outside world know of the many beautiful places and the great natural advantages of Washington County.”
However most of the photographs in its 22 inside pages are portraits of county VIPs. There is no table of contents. After a full-page statement from Governor Frederick W. Plaisted, articles include “Machias, The Town, The People, The Industries, The Possibilities;” “Men and Religion Forward Movement of A Bigger and Better Machias;” “Principle Industry of Machias,“ “Washington County’s Opportunities;” “Daughters of the American Revolution” (announced as the first of a monthly department; “The Rector’s Choice;“ Present and Future of ther Grange;” “Independent Order of Foresters;” and “Notes of Interest from Towns in Washington County” (Milbridge, Whiting, Lubec, Calais, Eastport, Jonesport, and Cherryfield.) Issued monthly by the Washington County Publishing Company in Machias, no information is at hand indicating the magazine’s survival.
