Expenses for Capt. Blyth burial, Portland, 1813

Description

A statement of expenses by John Leach for his part in the burial of British Capt. Samuel Blyth of the Boxer, which was engaged in a battle off the coast of Maine with the American ship Enterprise.

Blyth and the captain of the American ship, Lt. William Burroughs, both were killed in the battle on Sept. 5, 1813 in which the Americans were victorious.

They were buried side by side at Eastern Cemetery in Portland.
