Description

Hannah Pierce (1788-1873) signed a lease for the farm and house in Baldwin where she was born and had lived nearly all of her adult life.

Her father, Josiah Pierce (1756-1830), built the house and started the farm. Her mother, Phebe Thompson Pierce died in 1839 and Hannah continued to live at the farm.

She leased it from her siblings in 1841 and in 1844 the property was divided among them as specified by their father in his will.

Hannah was the oldest of the Pierce children and remained single. Her brother Josiah (1792-1866), a lawyer in Gorham, wrote the lease as the executor of the estate.
