Description
The Ashland House on Main Street around 1895. The hotel was built in 1839 by Solomon Soule. By the time of this photograph, the Ashland House was owned by D.O. Orcutt, who hired a guide to assist visitors interested in hunting and enjoying the wilderness of northern Maine.
An Odd Fellows Hall and an auto supply store later stood at the same address.
