Description
A view of the "butter line" on Main Street, Biddeford, 1943. Gasoline was also closely rationed, which explains the few automobiles seen on the street. Some of the businesses were J.C. Penney Company, Smart and Thrifty Ladies Apparel, A. Schulte Cigar Emporium, Green Shoe Store, and the Bell Shop, among others. The white delivery truck is for Cities Service Range Fuel Oils owned by Oscar Cloutier.
