Description

The cover for a demonstration by the boys' gymnasium classes at Portland High School in 1922. The introduction to the program notes that the first-ever Portland High School gym team was organized eight weeks before the May 11, 1922 show.

More than 100 students participated in the gym team.

The demonstrations included gymnastic marching, wand drill, recreation, Indian clubs, dumb-bells, setting-up drill, apparatus, pyramids, and dance.

The school formed both a freshman team and a varsity team. Arthur Waterman, who saved the program from the event, was a junior and on the varsity team.
