Early electric generator, Lubec, ca. 1903, ca. 1903

Description

The first electric generating plant starts under the hand of Evelyn C. Pike, daughter of sardine and ferry mogul Bion Moses Pike. The generator itself in the center is belted to a steam engine. The control panel bears a nameplate reading “Hancock Equipment Co.,” a Boston firm.
