Description

Summer Street, as all the streets in Lubec, remained unpaved when this photo was shot. Owner Robert Gordon MacBride Sr. stands on the porch with his wife Geneva (Small) MacBride. He was in the herring smokehouse business, and also a silent partner in the C. H. Clark Department Store. The house was built in 1893, with the ell added in 1911. Son Robert MacBride became a physician in general and obstetrics, practicing in Lubec from March 10, 1948 for about 45 years. He died in 1999. Mrs. MacBride sold the house to Stan and Penney (Pike) Lemon in 2006.
