Description

View of the bridge over the Royal River in North Yarmouth at Route 9 near Dunn's Corner. The sign "3 Killed Dec. 51" refers to the deaths on December 2 of 44 year old Benjamin A. Richards, 38 year old Helen B. Richards, and 35 year old Burton E. Sommers, as noted in the North Yarmouth Town Report for that year. The town took serious action in 1952 by dredging and rerouting the river and rebuilding the bridge 280 feet to the west, making the crossing more reliable.
