Description

Blue Hill Mountain, with an elevation of just under 1000 feet, stands apart from other nearby high lands and offers an extensive view of the surrounding landscape. The Maine Forest Service chose the top of the mountain as a site for a fire lookout tower in 1947, shown here around 1950. The tower stood until 2005, when it was dismantled.
