Description
Captain Gordon shows the Torah that he took with him on his rounds during World War II to a Captain, probably the Protestant Chaplain E.D. Viser of Dow Field.
Captain Harold H. Gordon was the Jewish chaplain for the North Atlantic Division, Air Transport Command, as he made his rounds -- that included bases as disparate as Reykjavik and Bermuda.
The Torah was on loan from Beth Israel Synagogue in Bangor.
