Description
This view from the belfry of the Hammond Street Congregational Church shows the view up State Street to the First Congregational Church, built in 1859 by Harvey Graves. The view includes much of the downtown business district; the building in the center with the mansard roof housed a bank, the Bangor Public Library, and the Bangor Historical Society until much of the area was ravaged by the 1911 fire.
