Description

A wrecked freight car sits on a Hallowell Granite Works siding. The Hallowell Granite Works shipped statuary, monuments and paving stones from this site. No account of the accident is found on the back of the photograph. The Maine Central Railroad station is located to the right of the southbound locomotive. Northbound passenger trains avoided stopping at Hallowell because the Augusta railroad station was only a few miles away.
