Downtown ruins from State Street Hill, Bangor, 1911

Description

A horse and carriage makes its way up State Street hill amid the ruins of the 1911 Bangor fire. The burned out Morse-Oliver block looms on the left of the picture. Surviving the fire is the City Hall with its clock tower and the Hammond Street Congregational Church. Also visible in the photo are Merrill Bank, Wheelwright and Clark Block and the Penobscot County Court House.
