Good Cheer Lodge hat, Guilford, ca. 1875

Contributed by Guilford Historical Society

Description

The Good Cheer Lodge Hat with tassel was worn by a member of The Good Cheer Lodge, I00F, instituted September 24, 1874. The last lodge hall was built and dedicated in June 1904. In 1981 the building was turned over to the Masonic organization and the I00F Lodge disbanded in the 1990s.

The building was torn down in 1998-99 to make way for the new Rite Aid Drug Store which stands on the lot today. The granite block from the building was incorporated in the Rite Aid Sign and planter that signifies the Rite Aid site.
