Description

The boat Tremblay with passengers on the Saco River below the Main Street Bridge, around 1917. Biddeford's working waterfront can be seen in the background, including the yard of the Biddeford Shipbuilding Company and the hull of the schooner Jere G. Shaw, which was the last big ship built in Biddeford. The coal yards and a coal barge at dock are next to the shipyard. Biddeford's largest shipbuilding company, E. & E. Perkins, was located in this same area in the mid to late 19th century. The docks on the tip of Factory Island, Saco, are visible in the far right.
