Description
Josiah Pierce (1827-1913) wrote to his father about various college pranks at the beginning of the fall semester in 1844.
He reported that someone cut the pillars that support the dome of the belfry on the chapel. He also talked about playing football and students kicking "the freshmen and other greenhorns most unmercifully."
Pierce was beginning his junior year.
