Contributed by Penobscot Marine Museum

Description

Main Street in Sherman Mills photographed for the Eastern Illustrating & Publishing around 1910. These photographs were then printed on postcards and sold by local merchants.

The first mill was built at Sherman Mills in 1841. The mill burned in 1846 and was rebuilt. It was replaced in 1863 by a grist mill, owned by Robinson & Bean, who built a new sawmill as well.
