Description

Hallowell artist Alger Veazie Currier was born in Hallowell in 1862. His father, A. C. Currier was the head draughtsman at the Hallowell Granite Works and designed the Hubbard Free Library. In the 1880s Alger Currier attended the School of Fine Arts at the Boston Art Museum and studied in Paris, France. He painted in both oils and watercolors. Alger died in Hallowell after a long illness in 1911. Two of his paintings are displayed at the Hubbard Free Library.
