Everett S. "Shep" Hurd had requested a copy of the reward check he had received for reporting the presence of the Brady Gang in Bangor to law enforcement officials. This letter from the United States General Accounting Office, sent on December 14, 1938, acknowledges Mr. Hurd's inquiry and informs him that they have honored his request. Mr. Hurd's involvement resulted in the gang's apprehension on October 12, 1937 on Central Street in front of Dakin's Store.
