Description

Ocean Park is 15 miles south of Portland in the town of Old Orchard Beach and was founded in 1881 by Free Will Baptists. Its wooden octagonal building named The Temple seats 850 people and is the centerpiece of a historic district that is on the National Register of Historic Places. (Chautauqua Network News) In 1881, the Ocean Park Association created the building known as the Temple. Originally a Baptist church, the locals currently use the building, besides the summer church schedule, as a lecture and event hall.
