Description

The Socony garage and filling station was located on the east side of Water Street just beyond the railroad overhead bridge. Clifton Douglas Mosher and Floyd A. Mosher worked here in the 1930s before he opened the C.D. Mosher Lumber Company (ca. 1945 to 1973) on Granite Hill. Thoons Stone Works was located on the lot in the 1880s and Murphy Memorials occupied the site for many years after the garage closed.
