Description

The bearded instructor was the Portland artist, Harry Brown. The pupil painting immediately in front of him was Mrs. Roscoe G. Dennett, mother of J. Vaughan Dennett, who was at sea on a voyage to India when this picture was taken.

It would seem from observation that Mrs. Dennett is the only one painting while the rest are reading or knitting.
