Description

R. Albert Fairfield and his wife are stopped along the road while Mr. Fairfield repairs the auto.

Mrs. Fairfield is wearing the appropriate headgear for motoring. For many years Mr. Fairfield was a cotton inspector in the Pepperell Mills in Biddeford.

In this car the motor was in the back, and the trunk compartment was in the front. Those were the days when, if a car pulled to the side of the road for temporary repairs, the people passing snickered and often said, "Get a horse."
