Description
George W. Pierce, a student at Bowdoin College, wrote to his sister Harriot of Baldwin, primarily about a Mr. Simeon who had been born in Germany to a Jewish family.
Simeon converted to Christianity and was "travelling and delivering his addresses to collect money for the Jewish Colonization Society," an organization to which Harriot belonged.
He said he spent so much time writing about Simeon because of her interest in "all sorts of missions and religious societies."
