Library share certificate, Farmington Library Association, 1865

Description

A share certificate ($10 each share) entitling the proprietor to an interest in the Farmington Library Association (a forerunner of the present library) as well as the right to borrow books. This certificate was issued to Jacob Abbott, an early and strong supporter of the library. The illustration in the upper center and in the lower left indicate the importance of agriculture to the community.
