Description

Postcard photo of train cars being loaded on train ferry in Bath, circa 1905. Train ferries ran from Bath to Woolwich from 1871 to 1927, ending when the Carlton Bridge, which was built for trains and automobiles, opened in October, 1927. The ferry is probably the Hercules, which operated from 1894-1909. This undivided-back postcard, with space for writing on the front, not on the back, was produced from 1901-1907. The postcard was mailed on June 22, 1906, from May to Mrs. Chas. C. Atkins of Rockland.
