These post office boxes were used in the Islesboro Post Office, housed in the F.S. Pendleton Store ca. 1890-1920, which was located in Guinea, mid-island. The Islesboro Post Office moved to a separate building in 1923.
The Islesborough (spelling changed in 1890) Post Office was established in 1889 and was one of four post offices on Islesboro. In 1966, all the post offices were consolidated into one location and the island used one postal name, Islesboro.
