Description
The Bronze medallion reads “CENTENNIAL OF LUBEC ME 1811-1911.”
The small circle at the top reads, “TOWN OF LUBEC INCORPORATED," which surrounds an image of the sun rising over the sea.
The main image is a view of Lubec village across the waters of Lubec Narrows from Campobello Island. Across the medallion’s bottom, "JUNE 21, 1911."
Lubec’s Town Charter was signed by the Massachusetts legislature on June 19, 1811, and approved by Governor Elbridge Gerry on June 21. That date became known as “Separation Day,” the day Lubec separated from Eastport.
