Description
Atwood Levensaler’s heirs had the three-story brick Levensaler Block built in 1872.
The mason work was done by Oscar Andrews and brother of Rockport, and the joiner work was in charge of Thomas S. Andrews of Thomaston.
Henry, the oldest son, practiced medicine from his residence in the eastern rooms on the second floor until he died in 1899. In the first story were three stores. The second floor had two tenements and two large offices. The third floor had tenements and a hall.
Orient Lodge, AF & A Masons rented the hall on the third floor, which was dedicated in March 1873. The Lodge occupied these quarters until a fire in 1905 caused it to seek new quarters in the Union Block above the Thomaston National Bank.
The apartments were used by Dr. Levensaler and Thomas S. Andrews families.
