Description
The trees of Deering Oak Park in Portland shelter Passamaquoddy and Penobscot Indian encampment and reflect in the water at the park's pond.
Indians from Washington County and Penobscot County camped at the park as part of the celebration of Maine's centennial of statehood, June 26-July 5, 1920.
This photograph was on the front cover of the Wednesday, June 30, 1920 issue of the Portland Evening Express.
