Wabanaki people paddle Gov. Milliken around Deering Park, Portland, 1920

Description

Wabanaki people helped Maine Governor Carl Milliken into a canoe at Deering Oaks Park in Portland. They paddled Milliken across the pond at Deering Oaks Park during the celebration of the centennial of Maine statehood, June 26-July 5, 1920.

Passamaquoddies and Penobscots had an encampment at the park where they demonstrated Wabanaki heritage.
