Description
Hermon School Number 6 was built in 1916 at Northern Maine Junction on Vafiades Avenue. It was Hermon's only 2-room schoolhouse, replacing an earlier 1-room school built in the same district in 1845. In use until 1951, the building is still standing.
It is one of the 14 original 1st-8th grade schools, each of which was supported by its own district of what is now the town of Hermon. The early schoolhouses were replaced in 1951 by the new Hermon Elementary School building.
