Description
One of four original railroad stations in Hermon, Union Station was located at Northern Maine Junction.
Built by the Bangor & Aroostook Railroad in 1905, this was its largest rail yard.
Passengers and freight from the paper industry and potato growers were important sources of income. An overhead coal conveyor is seen in background of photo.
The railroad was a major employer for the area in the 1920s and 30s.
