William A. Moody, Brunswick, 1905

Description

William Albion Moody, a native of Kennebunkport, graduated from Bowdoin College in 1882, earning the Smyth mathematical prize.

He then became a teacher, math tutor, instructor and professor of mathematics at Bowdoin College.

He studied at Harvard from 1900-01.

He was Acting President of Bowdoin in 1924-5.

He retired in 1926 and became Professor Emeritus, the first Professor to receive that title at Bowdoin College since Professor Upham 59 years before.

He died in 1947.
